Sensobic is an invitation to get to know your body, to become more alive, more aware
In Sensobic the word invitation is important. There is no authority, instructor or teacher that tells you what to do.
In Sensobic you are invited to try and discover for yourself. The leader guides you through movements and experiments with the help of questions. The questions help you discover your body and get in touch with your senses. You get to shift your focus from everything that is going on in your head to your body and in this way gain access to your entire organism.
The movements and experiments are simple and very concrete. No complicated techniques are needed. We almost all have an ability to feel with our senses. We just need to awaken this ability by being aware of how we do things.
For example, we can explore everyday things like how we stand, sit, lie down and walk. Explore is a key word. We don't do movements, we explore them. This is what sets Sensobic apart from many methods. Instead of, for example, getting up from a chair with a "correct" technique, we sense how we do it. How much contact do my sitting bones have with the chair when I sit? What happens when I get up, which muscles do I use? How does it affect my breathing? How much energy is used? The possibilities for discovering are many.
The increased awareness of how we do and are leads to changes that can happen on their own. This is also something that distinguishes Sensobic from many methods. We do not try to achieve or force anything. We sense and let changes come naturally. For example, we do not need to breathe according to a certain technique. Becoming aware of the breath and how it adapts to everything we do is often enough for it to find its way back to its natural rhythm. In the same way, tense muscles can begin to relax when we become aware of them. We trust the wisdom of the body.
Sensobic is also a way to get better connected with the world around us. Because we work with our senses, we can become more aware of our surroundings, the people around us, sounds, smells, colors, everything our senses perceive. We can become more aware of how we affect our surroundings and how they affect us.
It is important to point out that Sensobic is not therapy. The purpose is not to make someone healthier or happier. The goal of the work is not to relax, or achieve an ideal of how we should be.
But work that makes us more aware can be therapeutic. You can become more alive, more present, have a calmer rhythm of life and better cope with life's ups and downs.
Better health and increased happiness often come with increasing self-awareness.
